As the coronavirus pandemic continues to dismantle the restaurant industry, The New Republic is suggesting the entire industry needs to start over.
“A system that relies on exploitation isn’t one that should survive the pandemic. There’s a better way to feed people and care for workers,” the article says.
The publication examines other alternatives for how restaurants and the entire supply chain that feeds into them could change, including the co-op model — but it says that’s not a perfect solution.
